Note flashcards for the beginning student: Note Flashcards

A Note Flashcard exercise:

1. Assembly: Cut out each measure. Glue each measure to an index card.

2. Setup: Shuffle the deck of index cards, and line them up on the piano.

3. Perform: Turn on a metronome, and play each card every four beats. Try starting at 40 to 60 beats per minute and work your way up.

Some students may find it helpful to write the names of the notes lightly in pencil on the back of each index card.

These hints can and should be erased later.
